Our weather has turned cooler and the leaves are turning. Some have even started to fall. The chickens are molting and laying few eggs, so the days are getting shorter. The garden is tapering off. I just love this time of the year! Bonfires, corn mazes, hot chocolate, hayrides!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5_uxfwA3KHPeXDHg127MsrqhpozO-r_taBvhG83dsycO8mkYpr7Pfymqi6bUefz6AuGyAv9uemA6eSRB29Ni6KOQUlrobkE5BWm8QzMRsIsqZ5EJPxO6i5gfVmllkrEO-MwxWwX4WF4vd/s2048/prims1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5_uxfwA3KHPeXDHg127MsrqhpozO-r_taBvhG83dsycO8mkYpr7Pfymqi6bUefz6AuGyAv9uemA6eSRB29Ni6KOQUlrobkE5BWm8QzMRsIsqZ5EJPxO6i5gfVmllkrEO-MwxWwX4WF4vd/s320/prims1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Fun vintage style Halloween/Fall kneehuggers. Some of the hats are made out of 1940s newspaper that I carefully recycled off of some old paper pieced quilt squares. I want to use these squares in a quilt but hate to destroy the old newspaper. So I repurposed some of it. The sailor style hat is made from a modern newspaper, The Valley Times News from Alabama. My in-laws save my hometown papers for me. I love them! It just so happened that the newspaper that I used was from November of last year so it had an article about a skating rink Halloween party. I was able to use this article. The words: costume contest, scary, costumes are shown on the hat.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpA0Og_yiLlxFfEQZnVagJIO_R2YpGOoJMfAtJl2ZF_CQ3Fy_e4AjTtrOxp7PhanzasseQ7SQQt3HAcvt7nQ1nLJEdD1-hTKN_7N8ZlWvJxPoYZW2mSl7l0FI_S6fI0O4VqXTKIDCNw6JN/s2048/elfb1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1152" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpA0Og_yiLlxFfEQZnVagJIO_R2YpGOoJMfAtJl2ZF_CQ3Fy_e4AjTtrOxp7PhanzasseQ7SQQt3HAcvt7nQ1nLJEdD1-hTKN_7N8ZlWvJxPoYZW2mSl7l0FI_S6fI0O4VqXTKIDCNw6JN/s320/elfb1.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Fun vintage style pumpkin kneehugger. Summer has come to an end and fall is in the air. I have been working on a few fall things. I recently purchased the kit for the table runner and really enjoyed making it. I believe that I finished it in about a week. Pattern is by Primitive Gatherings and is called Pumpkin Farm table runner. The kit came with everything but the thread. I just used thread that I had in my stash.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg31STJamnEgOevEeGE6fPCe0UReO1BKmqH1D4rGCyoWFGTicR7Y5Gdrix1nPii5YriUCVHFWt_ZdusAc_fNsfLG0-AY5pcNpwrnVjydk3w-Ylt0_S5fJRZ-oob4HzVW5We-BRKprXfIcJr/s1600/runner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg31STJamnEgOevEeGE6fPCe0UReO1BKmqH1D4rGCyoWFGTicR7Y5Gdrix1nPii5YriUCVHFWt_ZdusAc_fNsfLG0-AY5pcNpwrnVjydk3w-Ylt0_S5fJRZ-oob4HzVW5We-BRKprXfIcJr/s320/runner.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmSDM8LUy838ktka5a9EfCBdfGgVyWvWRP0a3mxQA7b1DJNdSXZPBAFKTPMQY57jPycygaq1HsycdeQuXnRVFW7QSHG93RQ77OjqyfMaTbmob1-hxhA_TWImeriHE1DelUnRL3_KDWS5gU/s1600/runner2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmSDM8LUy838ktka5a9EfCBdfGgVyWvWRP0a3mxQA7b1DJNdSXZPBAFKTPMQY57jPycygaq1HsycdeQuXnRVFW7QSHG93RQ77OjqyfMaTbmob1-hxhA_TWImeriHE1DelUnRL3_KDWS5gU/s320/runner2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The detail on this runner is amazing. I did change the flowers from purple to more subtle yellows, reds and oranges.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMvax7V6CnX6KPIlYN89CdiKLsoXsuS-XireGdEZ992-DoHblpSfOuRBFvSs2LLUZ1E4IROStmKH_mWRmPQU_NqvdmsmON7WPah87OGSCfLzAmkgctoWJuNdHCqHo8FhPwjqlL7Sk8a-Af/s1600/window.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMvax7V6CnX6KPIlYN89CdiKLsoXsuS-XireGdEZ992-DoHblpSfOuRBFvSs2LLUZ1E4IROStmKH_mWRmPQU_NqvdmsmON7WPah87OGSCfLzAmkgctoWJuNdHCqHo8FhPwjqlL7Sk8a-Af/s320/window.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The runner fits nicely on an old table in the upstairs hall. Notice the old window? My father in law gave it to me. It is from an old farmhouse that was across the road from their country house.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLt8C4eMpZNLdRP174UG9mOVZFognWEmZo6a7GyFJYFrROMpL_jGy5VwK754WRp8kKY4Uit4g8GiCrWhQVQT9nAPas4RcRJ8JGEnlR2248EWxaojvSolVOkQL3Yj2OGye-DH2mxYwgpO0P/s1600/fall+quilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLt8C4eMpZNLdRP174UG9mOVZFognWEmZo6a7GyFJYFrROMpL_jGy5VwK754WRp8kKY4Uit4g8GiCrWhQVQT9nAPas4RcRJ8JGEnlR2248EWxaojvSolVOkQL3Yj2OGye-DH2mxYwgpO0P/s320/fall+quilt.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fall quilt that is about 7 years in the making. For some reason I never did buy any fabric for the binding. Last year I purchased some matching brown and am just now getting around to binding the quilt. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4ViJEWNTc5ATKefN3Bn7QH-cbx1bWIpvZJ0W4zKfPAAvm1eFJi5xXrFXIiJAa0B7l9Tj7djZWDcN-w_Tnw0wUl8EVWyWisPyj0ebKb1Z92XMIkUe2JsJha_5Y9hmcpjG7Md6ZDWf0Z7xh/s1600/doughbowl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4ViJEWNTc5ATKefN3Bn7QH-cbx1bWIpvZJ0W4zKfPAAvm1eFJi5xXrFXIiJAa0B7l9Tj7djZWDcN-w_Tnw0wUl8EVWyWisPyj0ebKb1Z92XMIkUe2JsJha_5Y9hmcpjG7Md6ZDWf0Z7xh/s320/doughbowl.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Starting to finish some cross stitch pieces. Finished these last year and have started on a few for this year. The small quilt table runner was very easy and was a kit from Prairie Women's Sewing Circle. Very cute pattern and the green is not as bright as this picture makes it. The doll in the old dough bowl is from Gail Wilson pattern. Love her patterns and extremely easy instructions for making the dolls look just like hers. They are very meticulous but turn out beautiful. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have a very wonderful weekend,</div>

I couldn't remember the password and the email address that I used was not added to my other computer. Received a new computer for Christmas and added the old email address and was able to change the password. Now I just have to figure out how to break into my Flickr account :)<br />

I have been cross stitching since I was 8. Back then the large Aida was in style, now it is the linen. I absolutely love linen. The linen looks more original to the little school girls' samplers that I dearly love. Needlework is so relaxing to me. I loooovvvveee doing needlework in the car line when I pick D#2 up (it keeps me from falling asleep). Granted it is only about 20-30 minutes but you would be surprised what you can accomplish in that short of time. Take a look and see :)<br />

This was a freebie from Notforgotten Farm. I did change the date to "31" instead of "13". I usually don't stitch Halloween things but Lori was having a contest and how could I resist? Well.....that was last year and as you can see it was not finished. I didn't know how to finish it, so it sat at the bottom of my little stitching basket until this past August. I finished it in about 3 days, so less than 2 hours. I am thinking of making it into a little pillow. The backing will be that little scrap of pumpkin fabric. The pumpkin fabric is only 5" square.</div>

I have been working on this piece for 2 1/2 years. It is a Stacy Nash piece. It is not very big but I got kind of tired of it. I completed it this past August too!! I think a little bowl filler pillow is in it's future. Scissors are 4" and show how small this piece is too.</div>

I love this piece. Again, another pillow. I have almost finished it. It is a Brenda Gervais piece. She has the most amazing patterns. I love it that she will kit the threads for you. That saves so much time! I am in love with two of her new pieces but since everyone else loves them too, they had to put their shop on vacation while they play catch up to the flood of orders. I can't wait to order mine!!</div>

Hope you enjoyed the car line stitches! What are you working on? Are you baking a cake, working on your Christmas gifts, stitching, cooking supper? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Keep those needles sharp and have a great weekend,</div>

Here's a fun little pumpkin tutorial for you! Make sure when Fall is over and you get ready to throw away all of your gourds and little pumpkins, that you save the stems. They add a realistic touch to handmade fabric pumpkins. </div>

Hand dyed velvet pumpkin.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Draw a 4" circle. Lay the pattern on a double layer of fabric and cut out. Right sides together, sew, leaving a 1 1/2" gap for turning and stuffing. Turn pumpkin right side out. Stuff very firmly. Stitch opening closed. Using crochet thread, start in the middle from the bottom, go up through pumpkin, cross over the side downwards and back through the bottom of the pumpkin pushing needle through pumpkin and upwards. Continue doing this first in a "t" or cross shape and then in an x shape. Tie off on the bottom. Now just glue the stem on. There you have it, your cute little pumpkin. Make a bunch of them and put them in a bowl. Super cute! You could use wool, cute fabric or even felt. Have fun! If you get confused just leave a comment and I will try to explain it better.</div>

It is finally time to put out the fall decorations and it won't be long until Christmas ones are up! I love Fall. The apples, pumpkins, hay rides, corn mazes, leaves turning, and of course the cool, crisp Fall air. I took a few pictures around the house. Enjoy!</div>

Another antique sewing machine (treadle). This one is from the Free company. See the candle holders. My sweet Father-in-law made them for me. Look at that sad little bent candle on the left. I love these candles and bought them from a wonderful, sweet little local store here in town. The name of it was Antique or Not. She has since closed her brick and mortar and move to Idaho! Pam is so sweet. If you get a chance click<a href="http://www.antiqueornot.blogspot.com/"> here</a> to visit her. D#2 and I dearly miss her wonderful Prim store. I purchased a lot of pieces from her including this "Free" sewing machine.</div>

My antique pie safe. Fall leaf garland with basket of pine cones. See the cinnamon broom to the left of the pie safe? It still has the plastic on it. Why? Man!...is that broom strong!! The scent of cinnamon was so overwhelming that I had to put the plastic bag back on it. I now lift the bag about 1 inch a week. Smells much better. I purchased this pie safe from money that I saved after doing a lot of commission work: curtains, pillows, costumes, etc.</div>

This beautiful secretary was also purchased with my commission money. I love saving up and purchasing a large antique piece. It might take me a few years or few months, depending on what is to be purchased. The garland is lighted. The antique mantle clock was a birthday gift from dear hubby and the kids. The tiny chair with the pumpkin was a flea market find at $6. I have been collecting the firkins for a while now and find then labeled the strangest way. Some have said: wooden bucket(no surprise there-that is what it is), utensil caddy, old paint bucket, pencil holder (smaller one), slop bucket, etc. No one around here seems to call them a firkin. But, when labeled "firkin" they tend to go for high $$. So I'll take my slop, pencil, paint bucket any day. The sweet little vintage desk was a Saturday find. Found it up in Hickory, NC at my favorite antique store there. It is so cute! I love it. The bear is one of my first that I ever made. His body is actually upside down. His bottom is on top and his top is on bottom :)</div>

Above: Thank you card. I tried to make a ATC card but the 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" size was a little too small for me. I do want to make alot of ATCs (artist trading card) so that I can fill my 7 gypsies rolodex. I have had the rolodex for about 5 years now and have never really made anything for it.</div>

I know that it has been a while since I blogged here but I just haven't been making as much primitive stuff as I have whimsy/cutesy stuff. I have finally cleaned up my craft room and it is a very whimsy one now. My house is decorate for the most part primitive, but I also love red, aqua, sunny yellow and cutesy stuff. This is why my craft room took on a brighter look. Now I can enjoy the best of both worlds and it no longer has to be a competition of Whimsy vs. Primsy!! So, if you haven't seen the pics of my craft room go on over to<a href="www.littleredhenstitches1.blogspot.com" target="_blank"> www.littleredhenstitches1.blogspot.com</a> and check it out :)</div>

So, when I saw this quilt being offered as a class at my local quilt shop I was so excited. Well.....that was 3+ years ago. Since then the quilt shop has closed and I lost interest. About 3 weeks ago I was cleaning out the craft studio and came across it again. Interest piqued. I need to finish this quilt. I had 11 blocks finished. The 12th block was cut out and the embroidery lines were all ready traced onto the fabric, but the center "flower" was incomplete. Oh no.....I need just one more purple triangle. Where in the world was that fabric? It has been 3+ years after all.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipFpEWyI-EA-vDcXaXKfPA0lK7zv6YLeGfL3sxZ9rlmFMwzWtwPF7N0eyM-Dg3JLLm3T1YLvcBKpesbjef93eQtaXd0iGZaamZxycWyYR2YpO5BRhNzlVjUumoKqeHIgFnnP4HlYtbfBAA/s1600/DSC00947blog4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipFpEWyI-EA-vDcXaXKfPA0lK7zv6YLeGfL3sxZ9rlmFMwzWtwPF7N0eyM-Dg3JLLm3T1YLvcBKpesbjef93eQtaXd0iGZaamZxycWyYR2YpO5BRhNzlVjUumoKqeHIgFnnP4HlYtbfBAA/s320/DSC00947blog4.jpg" uda="true" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Above: This is what the quilt will look like when I finish. It is all hand pieced and quilted. I haven't decided whether to actually hand piece the squares and sashes or machine piece them on my featherweight. I haven't done a lot of sewing on my Featherweight so this would be the perfect project.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

The center flower is appliqued on. I forgot to mention that the "flowers" are all hand pieced. Really very easy and fast. Great to do in front of the TV. This was my first time to really "hand piece". I have hand pieced in the past but that was when I was around 12. I will have to show you that quilt some day. </div><br />

See that greenish circle in the top right corner. Guess what? Yep...I forgot how to sew that little guy in. Shhh...don't tell, I appliqued it in. That was the easiest thing for me to do. The instructions were not really that clear on how to sew it in and I forgot all of the short cuts and handy tips :(</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Do you see the black lines? Those were made by a stamp! This is a <a href="http://www.cindyblackberg.com/">Cindy Blackberg</a> quilt and she uses her special stamps in place of paper templates (with her patterns you do have the option to either purchase the stamps or you can use paper templates). I love the stamps, especially if this is your first time hand piecing. Hand piecing is a little different than machine piecing. Notice the inner black line above. This line is the stitching line. I love this quilt and can't wait to finish it. If you have never tried hand piecing, I would suggest you try it. It's a lot of fun and their are a alot of tutorials on line to get you started. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to leave a comment. Oh yea, I did find the purple fabric. It was in a box labeled "Civil War Repod. Fabrics". Gotta love labeled boxes, especially when what is labeled on the box is actually in it!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have been trying to catch up on some projects that have been on my mind for some time. I started this sweet little piece about 2 years ago. I found it real slow to work. I was stitching row by row. This makes progress hard to visualize. I had only completed the outline of the house and a couple of the windows. Well, this past week I ran across it again and thought that it's time to finish it. An idea hit me when I looked at it, why not stitch in grids. And you know what? I did all of this in three days! Most of the house, finished the bird (still needs eye) and the lady's hair at bottom. I now have the lady almost completed. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsi6s0OgE_kfe_r1la3SR7A3KJ38wKZMQGUtKVsZkwpbxFUzwXqfnQ1qzA8L_srOXcTtvsMwUJ3-54seTNf35VshWX6r8AckzPeq4w4jBpDSBZ2L4k_pTa2O4Kgz5iSBZ2ShXudnHcJZ_d/s1600/DSC00896blog1a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" sda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsi6s0OgE_kfe_r1la3SR7A3KJ38wKZMQGUtKVsZkwpbxFUzwXqfnQ1qzA8L_srOXcTtvsMwUJ3-54seTNf35VshWX6r8AckzPeq4w4jBpDSBZ2L4k_pTa2O4Kgz5iSBZ2ShXudnHcJZ_d/s320/DSC00896blog1a.jpg" width="219" /></a></div><br />

I have been cooking all day. I have been making macaroni & cheese, mini pumpkin pies, homemade bread and a macaroni casserole. My family loves the mac & cheese. I am not sure where the recipe came from but we have enjoyed it for at least 17 years. It is a very simple and easy recipe. I just top it with cheese, but you could top it with Ritz crackers or dry bread crumbs....yummy!<br />

Even with the frayed edges, less than perfect stitches, mismatched fabric scraps, holes, non meeting corners...they are wonderful! If you look closely, you can see the love in each stitch. A loving grandmother, mom, sister, daughter or aunt made these necessary covers. They would keep the family nice and toasty during those nippy nights. Now days, we mainly make quilts for show. Our families are kept warm by furnaces, electric blankets (not sure if anyone uses those anymore), or covers made in China. Very few of us have hand me down Grandmother quilts. I am very fortunate enough to have one of my Grandmother's that my great Grandmother made. I remember using it as a child visiting my grandparents. They did not have a furnace for heat. Just a fireplace and a couple of room gas heaters. We kept warm at night by using many layers of quilts and blankets. Once you crawled into bed, you didn't move. They can't be more that $25.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">2. It has to be a complete quilt. I don't want pieces of quilts, although I have broken this rule and bought some pieces that were orphaned quilt squares and scraps. I just couldn't pass these up, because the materials used were feed sacks, the quilt square pattern was difficult, or I could see the time and workmanship put into the piece was exceptional.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">3. Old traditional non-pretty farmer feed sacks were used to back the quilt. I find these charming.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">4. The quilting was done in a Baptist Fan style--LOVE!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">4. The quilt just "spoke" to me. </div><br />

The fabric ones that is. I think they are so adorable and versatile. I have used them on: cards, hair bows, quilts, clothespins, tags, aprons, potholders, pincushions, pin toppers, and on many other things. They are so simple to make. You don't even need a fancy schmancy yo-yo maker. Just some fabric, needle and thread. You can also make them any size that you want. A little hint: the size of yo-yo you want is about half the size of the circle you cut. For example, if you want a 2" yo-yo, just cut a 4 1/4" circle. The 1/4" is the edge that you will turn down. <br />
<br />
Step 1: I love using a compass for my circles. I just have a cheap one from Walmart. I set the compass to 1 1/4" (zoom on picture for close up). This will make a 2 1/2" circle. This circle will form a yo-yo approximately 1" - 1 1/4". Draw the circle onto paper and cut it out. <br />

That is why I am just now posting this. I believe that I promised it over a week ago. For some reason I couldn't sign out of my other blog, so therefore I couldn't sign "in" to this one. Anyway, here's what I made the Music teacher and Preschool Director. They are market bags and this pattern is pretty easy. I stamped all of the childrens' finger prints onto a panel for the market bags (all you have to do to remove the panel is unbutton it). This way if the bag gets dirty, they can remove the panel and wash the bag. I did mix fabric medium with the paint but it still could wash out a little. <br />

I picked up quite a few things. Of course I left my linens in Alabama. Sorry mom, guess you will have to mail them to me. I am going to "re"start making grandma aprons to sell in my Etsy shop. I say "re" because I have made some to sell in the past and love every minute of the process, from designing to sewing to decorating the little tags. <br />

Vintage kitchen utensils-I absolutely loovvee! I am going to add a vintage utensil with every apron. I think that this just adds to the vintage feel of the apron. Rt-whisk, spatula, vegetable crinkle cutter, ladle, another crinkle cutter, spoon, potato masher, egg beaters, rabbit ear sifter, another cutter. Above-these small molds are going to go with the children's aprons, child's muffin pan and tin cup-which I am probably going to keep and put pencils in it.</div><br />

I am going to finally show how to "flock" something. The image below is going to be used in a birthday card for a preschool friend of D#2. The theme D#2 and I picked out was princess. You can read about the gift we bought the birthday girl <a href="http://www.cottonpickinfun.blogspot.com/">here</a>. I was really bummed that I didn't have a princess stamp. I thought for sure that I had bought one. But, no, my stamps are real organized and there was not a princess stamp. I had to improvise. I googled princess cartoon image and found this one. It is a retired stamp from Stampin' Up. I drew the princess on a plain piece of paper and designed her like I wanted. I knew that I would want to paper piece some of her dress to make it look more professional. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcC9hWK-1u-nApfzywjKOQy56JKOD_4Xztwb8oa9eEcUZjb6_8_Fnik45_4BlMbQr3L4cE9Et2Vi6sYZ57pzmEkNAy7EexG-aJF7xplG19Hg5qABHp-z0EOAjDm_YMaIZiaDL2R12p10fm/s1600/DSC01103.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcC9hWK-1u-nApfzywjKOQy56JKOD_4Xztwb8oa9eEcUZjb6_8_Fnik45_4BlMbQr3L4cE9Et2Vi6sYZ57pzmEkNAy7EexG-aJF7xplG19Hg5qABHp-z0EOAjDm_YMaIZiaDL2R12p10fm/s320/DSC01103.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Above: Hand drawn princess. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4ot3fDT6FGbajGWmjVn2XkqHcKjfVaSZw0XtaoHtOGIMy78sVKkvt_E3DZprnA07qUSt5115i6e4187zWzxegCFpNewNwtdGhGqU_IytGz4UI6NQgu1z4HkJxtc5uvEHpnIbbHJJCK3x-/s1600/DSC01112.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4ot3fDT6FGbajGWmjVn2XkqHcKjfVaSZw0XtaoHtOGIMy78sVKkvt_E3DZprnA07qUSt5115i6e4187zWzxegCFpNewNwtdGhGqU_IytGz4UI6NQgu1z4HkJxtc5uvEHpnIbbHJJCK3x-/s320/DSC01112.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Above: I love to hang the card from the handle of the gift bag. Usually I use an envelope larger than the card so that I can punch a hole in the envelope to hang it. Today I had a eureka moment. I thought why not make a hanger for the card. So, I used the normal size envelope and taped a scalloped circle on to one short side of the envelope. The tape needs to be really strong. I use something called "red line tape". It is very sticky.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFTwTH0pRpF3aKlCEnpa2fkRtdYVD5RZJBmsfb3m4QUgxmlV0twvIZBAiZ5mHaTio0GOEsWsOtfRQg9ep1VVdevgRYyZVFeNuxT5YTcZgNiPxLASrWEftgyYYHXx6ZIp6aaHS6Eami57cV/s1600/DSC01118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFTwTH0pRpF3aKlCEnpa2fkRtdYVD5RZJBmsfb3m4QUgxmlV0twvIZBAiZ5mHaTio0GOEsWsOtfRQg9ep1VVdevgRYyZVFeNuxT5YTcZgNiPxLASrWEftgyYYHXx6ZIp6aaHS6Eami57cV/s320/DSC01118.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Above: The "red" is the backing. I am not sure if you know this but I love to make cards and other paper crafts. The card below is for D#1 to give to one of her best friends. She picked out the paper and I designed the card.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi528o3W1ToWQqBRM4yEMqMX6k7nAKS7QcAgBuHfqsbR7dTIjmVuzGXFyRc0qbIMat8rMXEo9JZkpr_PNMov3Qub_AR8Jg6Q-a6K4qTKPNmbYwEcHMk3sdq5Dp_wqsr-q2NEnaZOzRpM6TY/s1600/DSC00933.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi528o3W1ToWQqBRM4yEMqMX6k7nAKS7QcAgBuHfqsbR7dTIjmVuzGXFyRc0qbIMat8rMXEo9JZkpr_PNMov3Qub_AR8Jg6Q-a6K4qTKPNmbYwEcHMk3sdq5Dp_wqsr-q2NEnaZOzRpM6TY/s320/DSC00933.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Above: I did ink the edges to give it an antique look. The candle flame is yellow flock. I am not sure if you are familiar with "flock", but it is all the rage in the card industry. It is just basically fluffy fibers. I am not really sure what the companies make it out of but I have a very cheap and easy way to make your own. I think that it looks pretty neat, but it is expensive, especially if you want all the colors. Hopefully this weekend I can do a tutorial on making your own "flock". It really adds dimension to your projects. I will do some before and after pictures so that you can see the difference. This tutorial will be on my other blog: <a href="http://www.cottonpickinfun.blogspot.com/">http://www.cottonpickinfun.blogspot.com/</a> . </div><br />

I have misplaced my camera cord. It is the one that hooks the camera to the computer so that I can load all my pictures onto my blog. Not sure where it is. I am going to <em>really</em> look for it tonight.<br />
Gotta go and look for that missing cord,<br />

I do have a kit that I bought years ago and never started. The thought of cutting that beautiful <em>large</em> piece of mohair makes my skin crawl. I have made bears, lots of bears. Bears that I call my <span style="background-color: white;">preparation bears</span>. They were preparing me so that I might cut into that beautiful mohair. I dream of making old antique Steiff looking bears. Today I received a package in the mail. It is from The Old Pincushion located in the Netherlands. Why the Netherlands you ask? Well..her bears are adorable and old looking and she makes patterns for them <em>and</em> has kits and mohair to go along with her patterns. Netherlands....hmmm...expensive shipping. Well, no, not really. I did save up my $, though. Some from Christmas, some from Etsy and some from commissioned work. I can't remember the exact shipping, but somewhere in the ball park of $10-$15. Don't quote me. If you would like to know the exact amount, just leave me a comment and I will get back to you. Check out her website: <a href="http://www.vivianne-galli.blogspot.com/">http://www.vivianne-galli.blogspot.com/</a><br />

I have been working on some <a href="http://www.cottonpickinfun.blogspot.com/">http://www.cottonpickinfun.blogspot.com/</a> stuff. Head on over there to check it out. I will leave you with a small post. This summer, if mom comes to visit, I would like to learn to sew on this baby:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUuGxR3l2MFlgBoqfQ5ZGoXUL2wGFPnRbifecvOBAX1iYOA2gZfdBF0hYwLp7A7duHXa1IMVfpmQti6Yr990oNBm3crMe2uLbCdpcDTaQifxH2qOsE_AEcsYwvvBGbtkUxStXnG1FjWE2i/s1600/DSC00756.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" j6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUuGxR3l2MFlgBoqfQ5ZGoXUL2wGFPnRbifecvOBAX1iYOA2gZfdBF0hYwLp7A7duHXa1IMVfpmQti6Yr990oNBm3crMe2uLbCdpcDTaQifxH2qOsE_AEcsYwvvBGbtkUxStXnG1FjWE2i/s320/DSC00756.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>It is a treadle sewing machine-doesn't use electricity just your foot power-AWESOME. Wish it was more portable, she weighs about 75lbs? Mom use to sew all of her clothes on one when she was a teenager. I would love to sew something on it. I can't remember what year model it is but the decal is of the Spinx. Which I guess was real popular when King Tut's tomb was discovered?<br />
The machine is pretty clean. I am not sure how to do the bobbin or if it uses modern needles. I do have a manual that I need to check out.<br />
Thanks and have a great day tomorrow!!<br />

I have spent the better part of the day photographing the pincushions and getting them up on Etsy. Two daughters stayed home today, trying to recover. D#1 still has cough and throat hurts, doing a little better. D#2 is feeling much better, can't wait to go to school.<br />

I am not sure how to put them on Etsy. It is a whole different direction than my clothespin dolls. Should I open another store to sell them? I believe that they kind of frown on that? Not sure, will have to check that out. Anyway, here's the new pincushions. I have used a pattern from <u>cheswick company</u> for the little pumpkin man and the bag is from <u>sew by photos</u>.<br />

He looked so helpful and cute holding the button. I knew glue, hot or otherwise wouldn't work. It would show and the button is so smooth, would probably pop off sooner or later. Thread worked wonderfully. I really don't like to glue my stuff. I try to always hand sew anything that is tedious. I think it looks much better than gluing. She loved that pumpkin and would call it "Numpnee". </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Little Numpnee is by cheswick company. I did change the pattern some. The face is different and I made the arms and legs like my clothespin dolls arms. In her pattern he is a standing doll. So cute! Of course I haven't finished it. I am going to add some velvet ric rac to the ball, scissors pocket and scissors ribbon to the bag and stitch the saying "Pumpkins, pumpkins, everywhere". And something for Numpnee to hold. </div><br />
